Streets of Diversity - A tour with a consciousness
Operated by Euri Vidal
Overview
This tour is about understanding that the world we live in, and Madrid in particular, would not be possible without the tolerance and cooperation between people with very different cultural backgrounds. Along the way, we visit places that reflect the presence in Spain of Romans, Jewish communities, Arab kingdoms, the Church, the Spanish Civil War, Human Rights movements, painters, writers, the LGTBI community, refugees, and others. Their interaction reveals how diversity and cooperation shaped the foundations of the society we live in today. The tour concludes at the Prado Museum and the Royal Botanical Garden. Standing between painting and scientific illustration, art and nature, this final stop invites us to reconsider how knowledge has been observed, represented and shared over the centuries, and how these ways of seeing shape our understanding of today’s social and environmental challenges. By doing that, I hope that you will look at the world around with slightly different eyes
