Medieval Besalu : History, Wine and Local Flavors
Operated by Slow Moon Tours
Overview
Discover Besalú, one of the best preserved medieval villages in Catalonia, on a small group tour accompanied by a local guide. An experience that combines history, Jewish culture and gastronomy in a unique setting. We will start by crossing the iconic 12th century Romanesque bridge, one of the most impressive symbols of the region. We will continue to enter the old Jewish quarter, where you will learn about its history, its cultural legacy and its importance in the Middle Ages. We will continue to tour the historic center of Besalu, among cobblestone streets, charming squares and perfectly preserved medieval architecture. During the tour you will enjoy a tasting of handmade sausages of the Garrotxa, accompanied by the traditional ratafía. To finish the experience, we will stop at a viewpoint with panoramic views of the bridge, before closing the tour with a glass of DO Empordà wine at a local winery.
